Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Capresso 256 H2O Glass Cordless Safety Water KettleCustomer Review: Great Form and Function Summary: 5 Stars
This well-designed water boiler lets you see what's going on whil you wait for water to boil, which isn't very long.
It's faster than to heat the same amount of water in a microwave or boiling water on a stovetop. The cool looking design also functions exceptionally well since the heating unit is the little chrome dome in the bottom center of the pot and rather than a flat surface heater, it protrudes into the mass of the water to be boiled.
Having it be able to take away from the heating base is a plus. Like other Capresso products we have tried, this is outstanding quality and a great value. We have given several as gifts because we are so pleased with ours.
Description of Capresso 256 H2O Glass Cordless Safety Water KettleThe Capresso H2O Glass, Cordless Safety Water Kettle boils water faster, using less energy than any stove-top kettle. Its triple-auto-shut-off ensures maximum safety From the maker of many of the world?s best espresso systems comes this cordless, 1.5-quart water kettle. Elegant in design, the Capresso glass kettle reaches a boil more efficiently, quickly, and quietly than a stovetop kettle. The kettle sits snugly on the power base with the handle facing any position, a boon for left-handed users. A mirror-finish stainless-steel dome inside the bottom of the glass kettle contains the powerful 1500-watt heating element, which shuts off automatically in three cases: when boiling point is reached; when water dips below a certain level, and when the kettle is removed from the base. The top is affixed to the kettle and flips open vertically for filling, while the ribbed stay-cool handle provides a sure grip. Because the cord stays with the base, the kettle can be conveniently carried to the table for pouring or to the sink for filling. To operate, simply fill the kettle with fresh cold water to the desired cup or ounce marking, close the top and place on the base, slide switch to ?on? position (blue button lights up), and in an absurdly short amount of time the water reaches full boil. The kettle should be used to heat only water, never soups or other foods, and care should be taken not to touch the hot glass. While the kettle is made of heat-resistant German Schott safety glass, it should not be refilled with cold water when hot. The kettle stands 9-1/2 inches high when sitting in the 6-1/2-inch-diameter base. A one-year warranty covers the water kettle against defects but not glass breakage. --Ann Bieri
